Registration
Parents can register their children for classes and manage their account online by visiting our website www.dancingporthuron.com and accessing StudioPro. There is a one-time registration fee of $10 per student.
Class Placement: Students must be enrolled in StudioPro before attending a class. We will not allow drop-ins. Teachers will suggest an alternative if they feel the student does not suit the class. We reserve the right to place students based on their age, ability and dance experience.
Classes with less than 5 students may be combined into other classes, unless the parents and students agree to continue as a closed semi-private class.
Drop Class: Class drops must be submitted by email. Tuition already billed is non‑refundable, and missed classes cannot be credited. Families remain responsible for any charges posted before the drop is processed.
Tuition & Bill Payment
Tuition is billed in eight equal monthly installments from October through May. Summer tuition, starting in 2027, will be billed in two equal monthly installments for July and August. Payments are due on the 15th of each month, regardless of the number of classes in that month. A 5% late fee is applied to any unpaid balance on the 16th.
Families may pay tuition in any of the following ways:
- At the front desk during business hours using cash, check, or credit/debit card.
- Online through the Parent Portal in Studio Pro.
- By enrolling in Auto-Pay through Studio Pro, which securely processes monthly tuition automatically on the due date.
A $35 returned check fee will be added to any account for checks that are returned by the bank.
All accounts must remain in good standing to participate in classes, rehearsals, and performances.
Delinquent accounts may be sent to collections if repayment plans are not made and followed. When sending delinquent accounts to the credit bureau for collections, you will be charged a $50 non-refundable fee.
Auto-Pay
By enrolling in auto-pay, you authorize The Dance Company Conservatory to automatically debit your card or bank account on file on the 15th of each month for the total balance due on your account.
Terms & Conditions:
Scope of Charges: Auto-pay covers all account balances. This includes monthly tuition, as well as separate seasonal fees on their respective due dates (including summer tuition, mid-year recital fees, costume deposits/balances, and competition entry fees/costumes).
Payment Date: Payments are processed on the 15th of the month. If the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday, payments may be processed on the next business day.
Declined Payments & Retries: It is the account holder's responsibility to ensure payment information is accurate and up to date. If an automatic payment fails, our system will automatically retry the charge up to three additional times (The first retry happens three days after the original payment date, if that retry fails another is attempted five days later, and if that retry fails the system attempts the charge again eight days later.) If the final retry fails, the payment plan will be automatically canceled, and you must contact the office immediately to resolve the balance.
Costumes
All costumes require a $50 deposit per routine.
Costume deposits are due as follows:
- Competition routines: November 15
- Recreational routines: February 15
Costume balances (which is the costume cost minus the $50 deposit) are due:
- Competition routines: January 15
- Recreational routines: March 15
Any alteration or customization fees will be added to the costume balance and must be paid by the applicable due date. Please note that returned costumes may incur return fees with due dates in the following months. We make an effort to keep costume costs under $100 per routine.
Studio Policies
Studio Conduct & Expectations
At The Dance Company Conservatory, students are expected to demonstrate age‑appropriate self‑control, respect, and readiness to learn. Dancers should arrive on time, dressed in proper attire, and prepared for class.
Teachers and assistants may give verbal corrections or ask a student to briefly sit out when necessary. A student may be asked to leave the room if they use vulgar language, refuse to cooperate, or engage in physically or verbally abusive behavior.
Only registered students may be in the studio during class unless prior permission has been granted by the teacher.
To avoid disrupting instruction, please do not enter the studio during class except in an emergency. If you need to speak with a teacher, please schedule an appointment through the front desk.
Studio Facility Guidelines
We take pride in maintaining clean, safe, and professional dance spaces. To help us care for our studios, please observe the following:
- No food, drinks, or gum.
- No street shoes in the dance rooms.
- Do not hang from ballet barres.
- Do not touch the mirrors.
- Do not sit on chairs, mats, props, or equipment.
- Check tap shoes regularly for loose screws.
- No electronics or smart‑watch use during class.
Lobby & Viewing Policies
To keep our lobby and hallways calm, safe, and free of congestion, we ask families to limit time spent inside the building. Once dancers are acclimated to their class, parents are encouraged to quietly observe just portions of class from the viewing windows to limit distractions and over-crowding of the hallway.
Attendance & Closures
Studio Closings
If the studio closes due to inclement weather, we will make an announcement on Facebook, Instagram and through E-Mail. The studio decides independently if we will open or not—we do not follow the schools.
Make-Ups: All classes include 2 snow-days. Recital class will be offered a make-up lesson if there are more than 2 cancelled classes. Non-recital classes will not be made up.
Attendance
We expect every student to attend every class. If you/your child will be absent for any reason, please e-mail or call the studio as early as possible. We do not regularly monitor our studio social media accounts, so please e-mail or call. Students or parents should not contact the teachers directly. Students will not be refunded for missed class.
Attendance Policy for Performances: If a student misses more than 50% of classes in the two months before a performance, the teacher may require a private make-up lesson or may remove the student from said performance. Tuition and costumes are non-refundable. (Please note that upper-level ballet classes and competition classes have their own stricter attendance policy.)
Drop-Off/Pick-Up: We ask that parents drop off and pick up their students in a timely fashion, especially at the end of the night. Please contact the studio if you are running late.
Health, Safety & Liability
In the event of an emergency, students will be treated at McLaren Port Huron Hospital unless otherwise noted in their online account. The Dance Company Conservatory, Inc. does not carry health or dental insurance for students; families are responsible for all medical expenses resulting from illness or injury. Students with allergies should keep an EpiPen in their dance bag.
Parents are expected to monitor their child’s health and keep dancers home when they are ill or running a fever above 100.4. Please notify the studio if your dancer will be absent.
Students should wash or sanitize their hands when entering and leaving the building.
Photo/Video Release
By registering for classes, you give The Dance Company Conservatory, Inc. permission to take photos or videos of you or your child while participating in studio activities for promotional purposes without remuneration in connection with studio publications, advertising, television and news coverage.
Private Lessons
Absences and Make-Up Lessons
Due to the high demand for private lessons, it will be difficult to provide a large number of make-up lessons. For this reason, we will be enacting the following policies:
- If a teacher schedules a substitute teacher, the dancer must attend that class or it will not be made up.
- If the dancer has an excessive number of absences, the studio reserves the right to not offer make-up lessons. Missed classes will not be refunded.
- Make-up lessons are subject to the teacher’s availability. Please make yourself available when make-up times are offered.
Choreography and Performance
All choreography is owned by the teacher/choreographer. Dancers must receive express permission from the teacher/choreographer in order to perform private lesson choreography outside of any studio-sponsored events (including, but not limited to, school events, community events, competitions, pageants, festivals, auditions etc.) Dancers who are not in good standing on the competition team may not compete their private lesson choreography at any dance competition.
Expectations
- Dancers should arrive early and warm-up before their private lesson.
- Dancers must arrive to class prepared, having reviewed all choreography and corrections.
- Parent accounts must be in good standing before the fall season.
Music and Costume
The teacher/choreographer has the final decision regarding music and costume. Solo/duo/trio tuition does not include a costume fee. Any costumes ordered by the studio will be charged to your account.
